Teaching Philosophy - Not one goaltender is the same
As goaltending evolves,
instructors must be willing to adapt and understand the benefits of new
equipment and techniques. I start by teaching core fundamentals that are
universal throughout the goaltending community, such as proper stance, movement
drills, and gap control. By identifying strengths and weaknesses within each
individual goaltender, I then assess what opportunities these strengths bring to
each student. Finally, one can then properly assess and break down the weakness
so that improvement can be seen in a session-to-session basis.
Attitude and Effort!
In addition to developing skills I mentor students on how to handle adversity,
goal setting and focus. These are internal skills that are critical to a
students success not only in hockey but also in life! Often the approach will
determine the outcome, not preparing is preparing to fail! We can show you how
to develop a successful approach to the mental aspect of goaltending!
How Goalies approach the game of hockey directly impacts there ability to
improve there skills and enhance there understanding of the game. Attitude may
not be everything but when coupled with a relentless work ethic, a goaltender
can become a game stealer and a rock for a team to build on!
